Well, we had a great time cycling around Niagara, sampling wine upon wine upon whine...ahem, I mean wine. It was a lot of fun.
Friday night we arrived at our B&B a bit later than we expected, but the hostess was super nice and even offered us some home made meritage (cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot). MMMMm, it was so good that we begged her to sell us some... and she just gave us two bottles instead.
Anyhow... after a glass of wine, we both crashed.
Saturday morning we had a nice breakfast with another couple staying at the B&B. Then we were off to Marynissen, tour at Reif, lunch in Niagara-on-the-Lake, sampling Peller Estates (I could have done without it...too busy, too big, service was crabby) then it started to rain. Not badly, but enough that cycling wasn't so much fun anymore.
So we got back to the B&B, showered and changed and got in the car. We went back to Marynissen and picked up the bottles of wine we promised to get. Then to Frogpond (see R42K?) and Coyote's Run. Let's just say I was feeling quite fine by this point.
Then back to the B&B for a little down time before dinner.
YUMMY dinner at the Old Winery Restaurant. YUM! I highly recommend it.
Sunday we packed the bikes in the car and went off to Southbrook, Hillebrand and Strewn. Had a yummy lunch at Strewn and then into Niagara-on-the-Lake again to check out the Dansk 70-80% off sale. We got a nice little serving bowl for $17.
It was a lot of fun, and I think that next time we should go with friends. That would be such a hoot! Do people even say hoot anymore? I forgot to mention that our B&B also provided us with a bottle of home made ice wine. YUM! I've recently realized that I really enjoy it!
So all in all, 12 bottles of red wine, 1 bottle of white wine (I KNOW!! CRAZY!) 1 bottle of sparkling wine and 3 bottles of ice wine. Just a little bit of an investment!
